Interactive event for students in year 12 or 13 which looks at history, geography, politics and economics from a new angle and aims to inspire young people towards a career in economics.

Students from state schools are invited to attend a free workshop at the University of Warwick to discover that there’s more to studying economics than just finance.
The workshop is delivered by Discover EconomicsLink opens in a new window, a Royal Economic Society initiative, in partnership with Warwick University’s CAGE Research Centre who are together creating a series of interactive and engaging video and teaching resources for schools.
Over the past two years the partnership has developed two video series on the impact of colonialismLink opens in a new window and political protestLink opens in a new window on global economies – subjects which have appealed to history, geography, politics, business and economics A level students.
This year we are focusing on migration in all its forms to show how the movement of people shapes world economies.
Our aim is to help teachers, and their students navigate the different ways economics can intersect with a whole range of curriculum areas, broaden horizons and enhance understanding of world economies and modern society.
The workshop will include a series of interactive activities based on the new video series covering the impact of migration. It is recommended for year 12 or 13 sixth form students who are studying history, geography, economics, politics or sociology.
Students and staff will get the chance to meet academic staff and current undergraduate students with the opportunity for a campus tour after the event.
- Registration is essential and limited to 10 students per school and two staff members.
- Lunch will be provided – please detail any dietary requirements when registering.
