Weisi graduated from the University of Cambridge with MEng, MA, PhD (2011) degrees. He is currently the joint-coordinator of the Cities research theme at Engineering and holds exchange/visiting positions at CUSP, and NYU. He has served as guest editors for top IEEE journals, and as chairs for flagship IEEE conferences. His research on energy efficient networks (2012) and molecular communications (2014) has been recently covered by the Royal Society, IEEE, IET, Wall Street Journal, the Economist, TED, and Wired. Weisi has published over 80 papers in the field of networks, big data and smart cities, and is the winner of several academic awards.
