Lúí leads the London front office of EdgeVerve Systems new research and development lab. The lab, headquartered in Dublin, operates on an open innovation model, developing financial technology closely with customers, technology partners, academic institutions, and startups. The lab's focus includes blockchain technology and financial analytics.

With years of research experience in media and government, Lúí's first foray into the world of distributed ledgers was as an anthropology postgraduate at University College London, examining the social processes that allow Bitcoin to hold financial value. His research has also looked at the politics, motivations, and demographics of early cryptocurrency adopters. He went on to spend 18 months as the general manager of Australia's largest bitcoin wallet and exchange, before joining EdgeVerve in February 2016.
