Each year, Her Majesty's Revenue and Customs (HMRC), the UK agency responsible for collecting the nation's taxes, releases figures on how much tax is owed but not collected last year. For the last 10 years, this number has been around 6%, which means that £33 billion was not collected in the last year alone.
