  • there are 66,870 people employed in the region, accounting for 7% of the UK financial services workforce
  • it produces 5% of all GVA
  • average earnings are £28,856 per annum
  • there are more females (40,634) in the sector workforce than males (26,634)
  • 14,700 people working in the sector are aged 16-24 years, 36,800 25-44 years, 19,700 45-54 years and 5,000 54 years plus
  • there are significantly more people in financial services in the region working full-time than part-time, plus employed people than self employed – this is representative of the entire sector
