Vacancies in the health and social work account for 11% of all industry vacancies. 13% of establishments within the North West health sector report skills gaps within their workforce. The number of employees in the health sector increased by 30.2% between 1998 and 2008 and the number of establishments increased 30.4% in the same period. Between 2007 and 2017, the total requirement for workforce will be approximately 133,000 people. This is the total of the predicted expansion plus replacement demand.
