This session will help you to: Understand why employers use careers fairs; Recognise what is expected of students attending the fair; Identify how to research the employers; and Understand what to ask and how to present yourself.

At Meet the Professionals - Careers in Government and the Public Sector, you will gain an understanding of the different roles and career paths open to you.

Representatives from organisations working in Government and the public sector will deliver a series of presentations. Following the presentations, there will be an opportunity for networking with the speakers.

'Race, Law and the Academy' with Dr Eddie Bruce-Jones - Birkbeck, University of London

This lecture examines conceptual, practical and political dimensions of research on race in the legal academy. Bruce-Jones will draw on his own work and experience, as well as the work of other Black scholars, around the legal concept of race in Europe, historical studies of British colonialism and interdisciplinary examinations of race at the intersection of law and the humanities. The lecture will address central questions including: What is critical race theory and why is it such a big deal? How do legacies of colonialism impact the conditions of research? And how might we think about the ethical and intellectual demands of race-related research? Register to attend.
