Michael Webster qualified as a lawyer with an international law firm in London and has expertise in corporate, commercial law, professional ethics and industry regulation. He has advised public and private sector clients including blue-chip and FTSE 100 companies across a wide-range of industries. During the Global Financial Crisis he was a General Counsel for DDB with responsibility for legal and company secretarial matters throughout the EMEA region and Russia. He also contributed to Company Secretary’s Review Journal.

He is working with the English legal profession’s oversight regulator the LSB and the ESRC to investigate the effectiveness of regulations governing conflicts of interest around international commercial transactions. He is engaging with policy-makers, law firms, financial institutions, businesses and insurers towards regulatory reform in this area. Michael is also conducting research in the United States around the potential for innovation in legal services delivery as a means to improving access to justice and the quality of legal services delivered to individuals and SMEs.

Michael has been involved in the design of undergraduate law and business modules, lectured legal ethics, taught property law, and is an Associate Fellow of the HEA and Transatlantic Research Fellow.
