Working Days: Tuesday to Friday. James is currently working remotely - please contact via email or Teams.
James is the Academic Technologist for the departments of Politics & International Studies, Sociology and Philosophy, and is available to advise on a range of learning technologies to support teaching.
Primarily James supports the Moodle virtual learning environment, through one-to-one training and practical assistance with developing content. This can include help with day-to-day editing, as well as discussing more innovative uses of Moodle such as integrating media, interactive content, quizzes, blogs, and forums.
In addition to supporting Moodle, James is also the contact for a number of other learning technologies such as Talis Aspire reading lists, Echo 360 Lecture Capture, Box of Broadcasts (TV/radio archiving service) as well as in-classroom tools such as student voting systems (e.g. Vevox).
In the context of the coronavirus pandemic, James is also the main departmental contact for new online teaching methods. He is available to support activities such as pre-recording online lecture material, running seminars with Microsoft Teams, and other approaches to online learning which may replace face-to-face teaching this academic year.
Tabula: Please note James does not support our student administration system, Tabula. Enquiries should be directed to the department's programmes team in the first instance.
