Liliana Pop, BA Sociology ( Bucharest 1993), MA (Econ) International Relations (Manchester 1997), PhD Politics (Warwick 2002), is a Researcher in the Institute for the Study of European Transformations at the London Metropolitan University. She has taught previously in the Department of International Politics at the University of Wales, Aberystwyth and in the School of Politics and Sociology at Birkbeck College, University of London. Her research focuses on cultural dimensions of democratisation and marketisation and the impact of globalisation on governance and structural reform in the post-communist states of Central and Eastern Europe and European Union enlargement. She is also interested in evaluating the relevance of contemporary social theory for constructivist research in international relations and international political economy. Liliana is the author of Democratising capitalism? The political economy of post-communist transformations in Romania 1989-2001 (Manchester: Manchester University Press, 2006) and is currently working on a book manuscript on post-communist politics in CEE for Polity Press.
