Ton Bührs is a Senior Lecturer with the Environmental Management Group of Lincoln University, New Zealand. He holds a Masters degree in Political and Social Sciences from the University of Amsterdam and a PhD in Political Science from the University of Auckland, New Zealand. His research interests are in the area of environmental politics and policy, in particular the development of comprehensive and integrated environmental policy, environmental integration, political-institutional and political-economic aspects. His publications include Environmental Policy in New Zealand. The Politics of Clean and Green? (Oxford University Press, 1993; co-authored with Robert V. Bartlett), and a diverse range of chapters and articles on environmental policy development in New Zealand, comparative environmental policy, green planning, and the concept of environmental space. He was a Visiting Fellow with the CSGR from June to October 2007, studying the prospects for the adoption of the environmental space approach at the global level.
