Dr. Heloise Weber

Heloise Weber joined the CSGR as a Research Fellow in October 2000. Her interests are broadly in Global Political Economy, political development theory, globalisation and inequality. She is also particularly interested in emerging frameworks that forge links between the global and local levels.

More specifically, she focuses on development policies of International Finance Institutions. Current research includes the latest poverty focussed conditionalities of the International Monetary Fund and World Bank: the Poverty Reduction Strategy Papers. A further interest is the role of the WTO in the emerging Global Development Architecture.


Heloise holds a PhD from the Department of Politics, University of Southampton, for her thesis on the ‘Global Political Economy of Microcredit and Poverty Reduction'. She received a BSc Econ in International Relations from the Department of International Politics, University of Wales, Aberystwyth.
