Dr. Jeff Round

Jeff Round is a Reader in the Department of Economics and a CSGR associate. He co-managed (with Professor John Whalley) a DFID-financed CSGR project on exploring the links between globalisation and poverty in South Asia, completed in 2002. This was a collaborative project with researchers based in Bangladesh, India, Pakistan and Sri Lanka. However his best known work has in developing and applying social accounting matrices (SAMs), including SAM-based economy-wide models, mainly for use in distributional and poverty analysis. This work is continuing. He has considerable country experience, for example ranging as far as Ghana, Sri Lanka, Malaysia, and Kyrgyzstan. His publications appear in many journals including the Economic Journal, Review of Income and Wealth, World Development, and the Journal of Regional Science; and in edited books, for example, most recently, in F Bourguignon and L Pereira da Silva (editors) Techniques and Tools for Evaluating the Poverty Impact of Economic Policies, World Bank and Oxford University Press. Jeff is currently co-editing a volume (with Maurizio Bussolo, World Bank) entitled ‘Globalisation and Poverty: Channels and Policies’ to be published in the Routledge/Warwick Studies in Globalisation series.
