Dr Jonathan Davies is a senior lecturer in public policy in the Institute for Governance and Public Management. His interests range from the political economy of urban regeneration through to social inclusion, civil society and citizenship. He has received international recognition for his work on partnerships and has published frequently on the subject in UK and American journals. Jonathan is currently developing a programme of comparative research on citizenship and civil society. Key areas of interest include: the impact of governmental conceptions of citizenship on the development of civil society in the public sphere; the extent to which global or cosmopolitan citizenship values are emerging in contrasting national settings (eg UK, South Africa, Hungary) and whether cosmopolitan values can meaningfully translate into a political strategy for cosmopolitan, or global citizenship.
