Sophie Harman is a Visiting Fellow at CSGR, working with Franklyn Lisk on the Governance of HIV/AIDS Responses project. Her research critically examines the World Bank's HIV/AIDS interventions in East Africa, with specific reference to Bank-civil society engagement practices, and the role of national and local government structures. Sophie’s principle areas of academic interest are Global Governance, Civil Society and Civil Society Organisations, World Bank, HIV/AIDS, East Africa, Feminist Political Economy. Since her time at CSGR, Sophie organized the joint CSGR/UNDP conference on HIV/AIDS in December 2007, and is currently editing a book based on selected papers from the conference. She has publications in Global Governance, and graduate journal Political Perspectives, and has experience of teaching undergraduates on the Politics of Globalization, Issues in the twenty-first century, and Theories of International Politics. Sophie has presented her research in a number of British and International academic conferences. She recently submitted her PhD at the University of Manchester.
