Keren Elzaria - “Unmasking Anonymous – the Global hacker movement"
This talk will be a journey through the internet’s underground, to see how it created a force to be reckoned with - Hacktivism, and more specifically: Anonymous, the global hacker movement. Since 2008, Anonymous Operations have targeted political and ideological causes across the spectrum: from Law enforcement agencies to government & security organizations, from billion dollar global companies to religious organizations, from organized crime syndicates to private individuals. This talk will discuss Anonymous past, present and future and show how the clever use of social media, viral memes and automated attack tools played a major part in Hacktivism’s rise to power.
Keren Elazari has been a key member of the Israeli Cyber Security & Hacking scene for more than a decade. Since 2000, Keren has been employed with leading Israeli security firms, government organizations, Big 4 and Fortune 500 companies. Keren holds a CISSP security certification, a BA in History and Philosophy of Science and is currently an industry analyst with Giga Om Media, covering emerging security technologies. Keren is also a research fellow with the prestigious Security Studies program at Tel Aviv University. In 2012, Keren held the position of Teaching Fellow for Security with Singularity University, a private think tank in California, focused on exploring the impacts of rapidly accelerating technological change. In recent years, Keren has participated at many international security events including IDC Herzliya Cyber Terrorism Workshop, NATO’s International conference on Cyber Conflict and more.
