Double Degree with Nanyang Technological University, Singapore (2018)
MA International Politics and East Asia at Warwick
Excelling at the bachelor level and academically presumptuous, my Master of Arts in International Politics and East Asia (IPEA) has, while pushing me to rethink my approach to academia in a humbler manner, provided me with the theoretical bedrock from which my understanding of APAC-related geo-politics and geo-economics has flourished.
The Department of Politics and International Studies (PAIS) at Warwick has been to me the powerhouse within which I have academically grown up, developing a deeper theoretical vision of the issues I have had an interest in since I have received my Bachelor of Arts in Politics. As such, I have had the chance to sharpen my knowledge on Northeast Asian relations, systems of governance, and economics.
At the S.Rajaratnam School of International Studies (RSIS, Nanyang Technological University), the Master of Sciences in Strategic Studies has pushed me to develop a more practice-oriented approach to security issues that relate to the APAC region (terrorism, political risks, state tensions, disruptive technologies, etc.). I partook in practical and analytical workshops run by APAC policy-makers, industry leaders and diplomats who taught me to consider the practical dimensions of corporate and state projects and policies. I also have had the chance to work with senior analysts of the Executive Deputy Chairman’s Office and co-author a published commentary.
Overall, the Double Masters programme has been for me a change to garner the best of two different academic systems, within two of the world’s leading universities. This has given me an edge in approaching the job market, my graduate studies having greatly improved my ability to synthesise regional political and security trends into policy-relevant advice. I am at present discussing with Fortune 500 companies that are looking for intelligence and political risks analysts and researchers. In a near future, I might as well enter the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs as a diplomat.
