I had lived in London over three years before moving to Coventry to start my PhD and I couldn't be happier here. People are so friendly here, the lifestyle is much less hectic, the city not nearly as crowded as London and Coventry is so much more affordable, too! I pay for a small flat in walking distance to the city centre the same amount some of my friends pay for a tiny room in a shared house in a dogdy part of London. I also love that I can walk pretty much everywhere. Many of my friends cycle to campus. With two universities and substantial Asian, Caribbean and Middle Eastern communities, Coventry is a truly international city. And if you need a bit of really-big-city-life, Birmingham is just 30 minutes (and London 1 hour) on the train.
