Issues in International Political Economy

With the globalisation of digital technologies, like smart phones and social media, why do national borders persist in the global economy? Should finance be regulated and, if so, how and by whom? What role do national interests play in free trade agreements? Is Trump an economic nationalist or does the media overstate his capacity to affect policy change?

The module aims to provide robust and critical knowledge of key concepts and issues in International Political Economy, ranging from mainstream concerns like Trade and Finance, through to more critical issues like the Environment or Resistance. The module aims to develop an ability to analyse, compare and critically evaluate fundamental assumptions and arguments in IPE and IPE-related literature.
