Decolonizing Philosophy' Reading Group:

Deleuze and Guattari Reading Group

The Deleuze and Guattari reading group is a weekly reading and discussion session focusing on texts and concepts in the work of Deleuze and his later collaboration with Guattari. All welcome, regardless of current familiarity. Reading for term 2 will be on Kant's Critical Philosophy. Please contact A dot Underwood at warwick dot ac dot uk for more information.

Plato Reading Group

A group dedicated to collectively reading the dialogues of Plato. Our goal is to capture the spirit of philosophy as a on-going conversation and, to foster a richer understanding and relationship to the contents of one philosophy's founding texts. All are welcome to attend, as the idea is to cultivate not only the love of wisdom, but also, the wisdom of love.

When: 5-7pm on Thursdays

Spinoza's Ethics Reading Group

A weekly reading-group on Spinoza's Ethics. This group will meet weekly, starting on Friday 20th January from 5-6pm in S2.40. For more information, please email Samuel Honsbeek S dot Honsbeek at warwick dot ac dot uk

Whitehead Reading Group

A weekly group looking at the Philosophy of Alfred North Whitehead primarily through his book "Process and Reality". Everyone's welcome, the more the merrier. The first meeting will be on Wednesday 18th January (week 2) at 2pm in S2.40. All meetings (with the exception of week 10 which will take place in S1.141) will take place in S2.40. Warwick Hegel Reading Group

A group dedicated to collectively reading the core works of the German philosopher G.W.F. Hegel. Our goal is to facilitate a better understanding of the often difficult contents of Hegel’s texts and to provide a forum for meaningful engagement between his thought and contemporary philosophy. Although we are formally made up of PG students working on Hegel, anyone with an interest in Hegel’s philosophy Is welcome to join us.

Political Philosophy Reading Group

Jurgis Viningas and Jack France are setting up a Political Philosophy Reading Group starting this week. The group will meet at 2pm on Fridays in term 1 in S0.19.

Jacques Derrida, Margins of Philosophy Reading Group

An interdisciplinary reading group meeting twice per term in B1.25 (Social Studies). Open to staff and PhD students with interests in Derrida's philosophy. Logic Reading Group

When: Thursdays (most weeks) during term time, 12-2pm

Philosophy and Economics Reading Group

A group dedicated to the philosopical undercurrents of the dismal science and metaeconomics in a non-mengerian sense. Topics include critiques of economic instrumentality, the rhetoric of Economics, marxist and "non-mainstream" approaches, pre-classical economic thought and the epistemology of Economics. We intend to attract PG students in Philosophy and Economics, but undergraduates are also welcome.

When: Weekly on a Thursday from 2.30-3.30pm. The first meeting is Thursday 15th October

Poetry and Philosophy Reading Group

A forum for philosophically engaged discussion of poetry and questions concerning the relations between poetry and philosophy. It brings together staff and postgraduates from Philosophy, English, and other departments.

Origins of Objectivity Reading Group

A reading group on Tyler Burge’s 2010 book of the same title, which draws upon psychology, biology, philosophy of mind, perception and epistemology to present a detailed account of the most basic forms of representation and intentionality.
