PPE Student Ambassadors

  • Are you interested in developing your skills, enhancing your CV and earning some money?

  • Do you have a real enthusiasm for PPE and Warwick and want to share that enthusiasm to encourage others from all backgrounds to study here?

Applications for 2017-18 are now open.

PPE Student Ambassadors are an integral part of our PPE Programme Open Days and Widening Participation (WP)/Outreach activities. They talk to prospective students and their parents about the Programme, answering any questions they may have; they take prospective students on tours of campus showing them what the University has to offer; and support lecturers and administrators and represent the programme at schools events both on and off campus. They will also play a central role in promoting programme activities such as welcome meetings for new and returning students, socials and alumni events . It is vital, therefore, that our ambassadors project a positive image of the PPE Programme and the University at all times.

In return, our PPE Student Ambassadors are paid £10 per hour through Unitemps. As well as earning and helping PPE to achieve its recruitment and WP ambitions, we believe this opportunity will equip our students with key skills, build their confidence in interpersonal skills and enhance their CVs - all helping to make a positive impression to prospective future employers.

Our Ambassadors will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills. You will be a professional, approachable, responsible and reliable student, who has a good rapport working with young people. A strong knowledge of the programme (with initiative to find out what you do not already know) is required.

For our WP activities it may be an added advantage if you come from a non-traditional university background and are able to share your experiences. In other words, the role may particularly suit those who feel they have faced challenges and barriers in progressing to higher education. However, such a background is by no means essential. It is, however, vital that you are able to share your enthusiasm for higher education in general (and PPE in particular) and the benefits of university with young people who may be unsure about applying.

Please be aware the application process is expected to be very competitive. If you are successful you will be entered onto our student ambassador database from which we select ambassadors for each event. You would not be asked or expected to help with all events and activities. Application for the scheme is open to all PPE students.

If you are interested in being considered for this scheme please do complete the application form and provide an up-to-date CV. The deadline will be midnight at the end of Friday 13th October.

Please note that we may ask successful candidates to undertake a CRB check if applicable (and/or attend Child Protection Training) for specific work. We may also ask you to attend campus tour training. You will be expected to attend any relevant training as part of the role. You will be paid for the training you do at your hourly rate.

Those who are short-listed are likely to be invited to a short interview.

We look forward to hearing from you.

    Best wishes,

Professor Andrew Reeve (Director of Studies)

    Clare Watters (PPE Academic Administrator)
