Anita Dockley

Anita Dockley is Co-Director of Justice Futures, a new community interest company, which aims to develop participatory and creative projects and research promoting public understanding of the systemic issues relating to crime and justice. She was formerly Research Director at the Howard League for Penal Reform.

Anita has been a member of many research and practice teams and advisory groups throughout her career that promote social justice and has recently included health inequalities in the penal system, centring lived experience in criminal justice research, the ability for creative methodologies in criminal justice to address power imbalances; and, advising on the ethical approaches to research within a PCC and advocates for criminal justice issues on a commission of inquiry into levelling up.

Anita has overseen the Howard League’s Commission on Crime and Gambling Harm’s research programme, managed a programme of work to interrogate the concept of justice through research, participatory workshops, media and events, and developed a cross-cutting international conference series. She has also through her work on REF panels and ESRC funding panels sought to ensure that research maximises its impact potential.
