Louise Ellis

Hello and welcome to my ePortfolio!

My name is Louise Ellis and I have recently completed my PhD within the Department of Sociology at the University of Warwick. My research interests are focused on mainstream news online comment forums, the onliine public sphere and the ways in which contributors engage in debates.

I have always had a keen interest in Cultural Studies and Sociology and completed my BA (Hons) in Cultural Studies at the University of Kent in Canterbury. Whilst studying at Kent, I enjoyed cultural sociology topics, particularly relating to news production and consumption, the public sphere and the impact of social media on public deliberation, which I carried forward into my MA in Social Research Methods at Warwick. My interest in online news comment spaces developed whilst studying for my MA, and I decided to pursue my interest by doing a PhD in online speech spaces, specifically focusing on maiinstream news online comment forums and their capacity for hosting online public spheres, along with interactions between contributors.
