Apple TimeMachine backup

Please note that the service does not work when you are off-campus so if you are planning to be off-campus for extended periods of time (months at a time) or work remotely more than 50% of the time then the service would most likely not suit your needs. For this reason the service itself may be retired. We strongly recommend you contact the IDG Helpdesk (helpdesk@warwick.ac.uk) to ascertain the latest situation and whether this option is likely to be appropriate for you.


Central IT Services have launched an Apple Time Machine backup service for staff users of Apple computers.

This provides a secure and convenient way for Apple users to back up their work. By default this will only back up your work when you are on campus although you can enable remote backups by connecting over the VPN.

This service provides a much more secure backup than using local external drives or similar.

All costs for this service will be met by the central WBS IT budget. If you are interested in using this service please email the central IT Services helpdesk at warwick dot ac dot ukrequesting a '1TB Apple Time Machine network share' and explaining that this is to be charged to the WBS IT budget code.
