Linda Dickens MBE is Emeritus Professor of Industrial Relations at Warwick Business School.
She has published extensively on a broad range of employment relations, legal, and human resource management issues. Publications include Making Employment Rights Effective (Hart Publishing ,2012 ed.); Challenges in European Employment Relations (Kluwer Law, 2008 ed.); The Changing Institutional Face of British Employment Relations (Kluwer Law, 2006, joint ed.); Dismissed: A study of Unfair Dismissal and the Industrial Tribunal System (Blackwell, 1985 joint ed.). Her academic work has been translated into all other major European languages and Chinese.
Linda Dickens is an Associate Editor of the Journal of Industrial Relations, and a member of the Editorial Boards for the Industrial Relations Journal, Industrial Law Journal and Employee Relations. She is also a member of both the Academic Committee and the Advisory Board of the University’s Modern Records Centre.
Linda has held visiting appointments at universities in Australia and in the USA. She was Vice Chair of the Industrial Law Society, 1992 - 1995; President of the British Universities Industrial Relations Association from 1998-2001 and a member of the Executive Committee of the International Industrial Relations Association, 2001-2007. Among other roles, Linda served as a Specialist Advisor to the House of Commons Select Committee on Employment, chaired the London Underground Wages Board, and was Chair of the Local Government Pay Commission (2002-3).
She is a member of the Acas Council, Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development and a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts. She was awarded the MBE in 2002 for services to employment relations.
