UK heritage craft regions

This whole project is hinged on the idea that heritage crafts are a regional practice, and therefore we have taken regional approach to this project. To start this project, we identified some “successful craft regions”; areas where their craft culture is apparent to those external to the area. However, when conducting fieldwork in these areas we found that the support for craftspeople was still lacking, indicative of a nationwide problem. Nevertheless, we have also identified, “potential craft regions”, places where there is a strong craft culture, but this remains an untapped cultural and economic resource. It is these regions we are targeting with our policy recommendations. Read more about our visits to these regions by clicking on the tiles below.
