Welcome to EUTOPIA Week at Warwick!

This summer we are delighted to welcome you to the University of Warwick for EUTOPIA Week, taking place on campus from Monday 30th June 2025.

The theme of this conference, Creating Global Connections, reflects EUTOPIA’s mission to unite our Alliance in addressing the pressing challenges faced by communities across the globe. Our Research Days will leverage EUTOPIA’s strengths and diverse expertise to foster interdisciplinary dialogue and create new initiatives supporting the development of regulatable Artificial Intelligence.
 
2025 is an exciting year for Warwick as we celebrate our 60th AnniversaryLink opens in a new window, we look forward to you joining us for this special occasion.

Opening Ceremony

Join us as we launch EUTOPIA Week in style — the opening ceremony will set the tone for an incredible week of ideas, connections, and shared visions for the future.

We are honoured to welcome José Manuel Barroso, former President of the European Commission, as our keynote speaker. His keynote address, titled 'Europe and the Main Current International Challenges', will offer valuable insights into the evolving role of Europe on the global stage.

José Manuel Barroso was Prime Minister of Portugal and held several portfolios during the twelve years he served in the Government, including Minister for Foreign Affairs. He was President of the European Commission over two mandates from 2004 to 2014. He received the 2012 Nobel Peace Prize, on behalf of the EU, delivering the acceptance speech in Oslo together with his European Council counterpart. He is Part-time Professor at the School of Transnational Governance at the European University Institute, Visiting Professor at Universidade Catolica Portuguesa and Director of the Center for European Studies at its Institute for Political Studies and a Visiting Professor at Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies in Geneva.
