The Alliance launches a new Accelerator Funding Scheme

The Monash Warwick Alliance has developed a brand new funding scheme to support research groups who are working collaboratively on intermediate-sized projects which have the potential to achieve significant impact.

The new Accelerator Fund is a flexible scheme which will be open to co-applicants from Monash University and the University of Warwick. Proposals must have clearly defined objectives linking activities to outcomes and impact.

The Alliance is offering funding of up to a maximum of GBP£125,000 (for expenses incurred by Warwick) and AUD$250,000 (for expenses incurred by Monash). Funding is intended to contribute to the reasonable direct expenses of the proposed initiative. The grants will be awarded through a competitive selection process and submitted to a Monash Warwick joint panel for final decisions. Collaborations with industry and those targeting external funding will be highly regarded and proposals that fall with the Global Research Priorities of Warwick and align with Monash’s Focus 2020 “Excellent” and “International” goals are particularly encouraged.

Professor Kerry Kirwan, Warwick Research Lead, Monash Warwick Alliance said “We have listened to feedback from our academic community and identified a gap in the current funding opportunities for those research collaborations which are at an intermediate level. The Accelerator Fund is designed for those who are beyond the initial scoping phase but are not yet in a position to apply to the larger funding streams. It will give our researchers the opportunity to put the support in place to take their collaboration to the next level”
