Warwick celebrates the achievements of International Scholars

The International Sponsored Student Reception took place last month for 167 outstanding scholars from 49 countries. The celebration, hosted by the Student Recruitment, Outreach and Admissions Service (SROAS) and Warwick’s Graduate School, formally welcomed the scholars to the University of Warwick.

Professor Christine Ennew, Provost, said;

This event has been a fantastic celebration of the achievements of an outstanding group of international students who have all secured competitive scholarships to study at Warwick. We are proud to partner with international funding bodies to maximise the opportunities available to students who wish to excel in their chosen field.”

Lord Mayor of Coventry, Councillor John Blundell, gave an impassioned speech at the event, praising the scholars for choosing to study at Warwick in what promises to be an exciting time for the region as we look ahead to Coventry being European City of Sport in 2019 and UK City of Culture in 2021.

Dr Chris Twine, Academic Registrar, presented the scholars with certificates of recognition and thanked the respective funding bodies for their support, recognising the academic achievement of the scholars and the fantastic breadth of subject disciplines that they represent.
