ISIC-SI poster competition results
IUKSN held a research poster competition during the ISIC-SI 2017 event in July, in order to promote networking between UK and Indonesian researchers and showcase the range of Indonesia-related research being carried out in the UK. The competition saw entries from a diverse range of disciplines from the challenges of monitoring the structural health of bridges to the ergonomics of Indonesian tin mining.
The winner of the competition was MSc student Yunisa Pamela of Imperial College, London, with a poster entitled 'Metabolic regulation of tissue damange in lunch tuberculosis'. Ian Sofian Yunus, a PhD candidate from Imperial College, was the runner-up, and the people’s choice award went to Galuh Pramesti - an MSc student at University College, London. Many thanks to all those who entered the competition.
In July 2017, the University of Warwick had the honour of hosting ISIC-SI 2017 - the largest gathering of Indonesian students to take place in the UK to date.
The four-day event, organised by the UK association of Indonesian students, PPI UK, saw over 550 Indonesian students studying in over 40 different countries come together to debate and discuss the theme of “Accelerating Indonesia’s National Potential Towards 2030”. The event featured keynote and panel discussions led by politicians, academics, creative, business and thought leaders from Indonesia and elsewhere, as well as a Gala Cultural Event encompassing traditional Indonesian dance and ceremony, as well as the first UK performance by Indonesian popstar 'TULUS'.
In 2016, we are glad to have an opportunity to invite international authors to participate in Best Paper Award with the prize of USD 750. We will also select five authors to come to University of Indonesia, Depok, Indonesia to join in the Research Academic Writing (RAW-2016) Colloquium. We will mentor the five selected authors to improve their writing skills and prepare their manuscripts to be published in Makara Hubs Asia. For the RAW-2016 and best paper award, we will support accommodation fee and transportation/flight (according to our terms and conditions).
