Travel advice and Covid-19

Please refer to travel advice from Public Health England (PHE) and the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO). This is updated frequently - covering travel restrictions, self isolation advice, and information regarding travel within the UK and what to do on your return from different countries.

Exceptional Travel Advisory Notice

There is currently an exceptional travel advisory notice in place from the Government:

'As countries respond to the COVID-19 pandemic, including travel and border restrictions, the FCO advises British nationals against all but essential international travel. Any country or area may restrict travel without notice. If you live in the UK and are currently travelling abroad, you are strongly advised to return now, where and while there are still commercial routes available. Many airlines are suspending flights and many airports are closing, preventing flights from leaving.'

Travelling (business or studies)

In line with Government advice, there will be no overseas travel on University business.

In addition, staff are encouraged to minimise their use of public transport and unnecessary journeys where possible.

Meetings that can be undertaken with colleagues joining remotely via phone, Skype or Microsoft teams should replace face to face meetings.

Where a meeting is deemed a priority and exceptionally has to continue on a face to face basis, then we advise those attending in person to socially distance in line with guidelines.

If you have had a trip cancelled or curtailed due to the Covid-19 and need advice concerning making a claim not covered by the guidance please email the Insurance Services Department at insuranceservices at warwick dot ac dot uk.

Bookings

Due to the spread of coronavirus, travel plans may be interrupted or some large events cancelled, so individuals planning to travel on University business are advised to consider booking cancellable fares and accommodation wherever possible.

Travelling (personal)

As time goes on, if you have plans to travel abroad in a personal capacity, you should review FCO travel advice and contact your airline and insurance provider to see if your trip is still recommended, possible and supported.


My department is expecting visitors from overseas. What should I do?

Please direct your visitors to check the PHE list of countries / areas and follow the advice.
