Fashion Stories from the Past to the Present

Saturday 8th March 2008, 10:00-16:00, S0.28, Social Studies Building, Central Campus

THIS EVENT HAS NOW BEEN CANCELLED

This dayschool will explore trends in fashion from 1700 to the present.

Why did the outrageous headdress of Mlle de Fontanges become all the rage at the court of Louis XIV when even the King condemned it? What was the secret code of the beauty spots or the innocent fans used by the ladies of the 18th century? Why are lace, the choker and the cameo back in fashion?

The dayschool will be illustrated by reproductions of paintings and fashion plates.

Course Fee: £27.00 - Places must be Booked Online
