The 6th International Studying Leadership Conference

The conference will be organized around the following themes.

Theme 1: The purposes of leadership
Exploration of the value base of leadership activity; the relationship between the declared goals and implicit interests of leadership; and the links between leadership purposes and outcomes.

Theme 2: The political dimensions of leadership
Developing understanding of the politics behind the current resurgence of interest in leadership in public policy; the power relationships inherent in leadership process and practice; and the relationship between strategic political leadership and operational management.

Theme 3: The development of a critical leadership praxis.
Contributing to the development of the theory and practice of leadership; walking the intellectual tightrope between theory and practice, rigour and relevance, reflection and action in leadership studies; considering the implications for research methods and leadership studies.

Call for papers: Abstracts are invited for submission under any of the above themes no later than 5th September 2007. Conference papers will be considered for a special edition of the journal Leadership guest edited by Professor John Benington, Professor Jean Hartley and Dr Jane Martin.
