Self-Service Password Re-Sets
From Wednesday 9 March, the self-service password reset facility will be live for all staff and students. This will allow anyone to reset their ITS password, even if they have forgotten it, without having to contact the Helpdesk.
In order to be able to use this facility, you will need to set up a series of ‘Challenge-Response’ questions. These questions are of the type used by online banking, Amazon etc and will also include a unique personal question of your choice. Users of Managed Desktops already have a “Forgotten Password” link on the login screen, as from Wednesday 9 March, this link will allow users of the Managed Desktop to set up their personalised questions.
If you do not use a Managed Desktop you will be able to set up your questions at http://mypassword.warwick.ac.uk

Self-Service Password Re-Sets
At the start of December, IT Services will be introducing a self-service password reset facility across the University. This will allow anyone to reset their ITS password, even if they have forgotten it, without having to contact the Service Desk. This will be a valuable service to everyone, particularly outside of office hours.
To ensure a smooth roll-out of this service, the service will be made available to ITS staff in the next few days. Please try this service out and send any feedback you may have to Mike Duckett.
Before you can use Password Self-Service, you must set some special security questions. These are of the type used by many online services, such as Amazon, banking etc.
- If you use an ITS managed desktop, you will be asked for these questions the first time you log in.
- If you do not use an ITS managed workstation, you will be asked these questions on your first visit to the Password Self-Service portal.
The address for this is http://mypassword.warwick.ac.uk
A user-guide will also be made available on the ITS Intranet.
IT Account Management Project
As a reminder, from this academic year, Students changing departments will not receive a new ITS usercode. Additionally going forwards any undergraduate moving to a postgrad taught course will not receive a new IT usercode either. Therefore departments should not be relying on the IT usercode to determine either the users status, e.g. Staff, Student, or Department. If you require this information but do not know how to get the information please contact the IT Service Desk.

Changes to ITS Directories - Impact on Managed Desktop Log-in
To make the management of ITS accounts more efficient, IT Services will be making a change to the way in which the current ITS directories are structured. Testing has shown that this work will have no impact, although once the work has taken place Managed Desktop users will need to delete and re-enter their Username the next time they log-in to update the client.
