The International Gateway for Gifted Youth (IGGY), an international network of the brightest and most creative young people from around the world, with its base at Warwick, has just appointed Channel 4’s former Head of Education Janey Walker as its new Director.
Janey served for almost 5 years as Channel 4’s Head of Education where she led a major strategic shift in Channel 4 Education from TV programmes to digital projects, successfully targeting teen audiences with innovative digital content. That experience will greatly assist her to realise IGGY’s next stage: a new online network offering significant, high quality content to over 100,000 gifted young people across the globe.
Janey Walker said:
Warwick has a world class academic community and the new IGGY network will link that to gifted and talented young people across the world. Over the last year the IGGY team has joined forces with a variety of partners, including technology leaders IBM and Cisco, to enable IGGY to create a global online community which will attract and engage the world’s most creative young people.
I am delighted to have the chance to lead IGGY in its new phase and to help inspire the next generation of exceptional children.”
Janey will take up her new role as Director of IGGY on 8 December 2011.
