Graduation 2017: 18-20 January

2

The Winter 2017 Awards Ceremonies are a celebration of our students' successes and achievements and will see thousands of students graduating. The award ceremonies will take place between 18 and 20 January, with two ceremonies each day commencing at 11am and 3pm. All ceremonies will be held in the Butterworth Hall.

During the week we'll be celebrating WATE award winners and the great array of recipients of honorary degrees including a US historian and author, a Mathematician, a former Director General of MI5, a TIME magazine “Asian Hero”, and a children’s television Creator and Producer. We'll also be profiling via insite some of the people involved behind the scenes to make Graduation a success.

Travel

As in previous years, we've arranged to reduce the amount of congestion on campus by running a park and ride scheme from Stoneleigh for graduands and their guests. The coaches will drop off and pick up on campus in the dedicated Coach Park, next to the Bluebell residences.

While these measures will greatly reduce the impact of Graduation on campus life over the course of the ceremonies, please do be ready for a busier campus at this time. If you approach campus from the A45 direction, you may find that the new Lynchgate Car Park is a good option, since you can park there without having to drive onto main campus.

You may need to allow extra time for your journey, and we'd advise considering alternatives to parking on campus such as taking the bus, walking or cycling if these are an option for you that week. Don't forget you can take advantage of our Unicycles to get around campus too, or use our free campus shuttlebus.

The lower ground floor of car park 7 (next to the Arts Centre) will be reserved for specific guests throughout graduation. We will also stop traffic on University Road whenever the academic procession needs to cross over before and after the ceremonies to make sure the events proceed as safely as possible.

Teaching and Learning

Here at Warwick we celebrate inspirational teaching and outstanding learning support. The Warwick Awards for Teaching Excellence (WATE) and the Warwick Awards for Teaching Excellence for Postgraduates recognise those who have made a difference in these areas. See who were our WATE Winners of 2016 here.

The National Teaching Fellowship Scheme (NTFS), run by the Higher Education Academy, also recognises and celebrates the highest standards of learning and teaching across higher education. Three outstanding Warwick academics have been revealed as National Teaching Fellows and we are celebrating the announcement of their awards at our ceremonies.

Behind the scenes

A wide range of colleagues from across the University are involved in Graduation - managing the complex logistics of the ceremonies, managing the academic processes that lead to these events, helping out on the day, participating in the academic procession or giving orations.
