Your healthcare benefits: Staff offer

We are re-launching our healthcare schemes with both BUPA and Jardine Lloyd Thomson (JLT) offering you updated options for both health cash plans and private medical insurance. As an added bonus, for 6 weeks from
1 February – 13 March 2016 you will be able to take up private medical insurance with the University and Colleges Personal Healthcare Scheme (offered through JLT) without your previous medical history being taken into account.

Private medical insurance from JLT: University staff special offer

As a member of University staff you have access to join the Universities and Colleges Personal Healthcare Scheme, offered through JLT. The scheme is open to all employees and their family members (children up to 25 in full-time education), and offers preferential rates to University members.

As the scheme is re-launching, for a 6 week period you will be able to join on a medical history disregarded basis. This offer will end on 13 March 2016. As part of joining the scheme you will also receive a £50 Marks & Spencer voucher.

Private medical insurance can offer you:

  • Prompt access to diagnostics tests to find out what the problem is.
  • The treatment you need – when you need it.
  • Treatment in the comfort of a private hospital or scanning centre.
  • Access to Health at Hand, a 24 hour confidential health information line.

Health cash plans

Both JLT and BUPA offer you discounted rates to join one of their health cash plans. These plans are paid for on a monthly basis and can provide you with significant savings on your healthcare by allowing you to claim back the cost of various services such as dental, optical, prescriptions, and physiotherapy. Family members can also be added onto the plans for a small additional cost. Both plans will be available from 1 February 2016.

Drop in to the University House Atrium to meet representatives from both companies and ask any questions:

  • BUPA: Tuesday 2 February, 12noon – 4pm and Wednesday 3 February, 9am – 12noon
  • JLT: Tuesday 9 February, 11am – 2.30pm

The HR team hope to arrange for representatives from the companies to visit other areas of campus on future dates.
