Inspiring Women successful launch

Monday 18 May saw the launch of ‘Inspiring Women’- an initiative designed to inspire staff at Warwick through providing occasional events where high-level senior women tell their career stories.

Zara Hyde Peters OBE and Warwick Alumna (Zara studied an MBA at Warwick) opened the first event and entertained, informed and inspired almost 100 staff members, outlining her role from her early career as a chemical engineer, through her international sporting successes in athletics, to the CEO of the British Triathlon Federation for the Olympic and Para Olympic Games. Zara is currently working as a Strategy Development Director at Birmingham Community Healthcare NHS Trust.

Thank you to everyone that came along and took the time to give feedback!

Thank you so very much for organising such a great event. It is always great to hear from others experiences. Especially seeing that women with different goals, different careers and different lifestyles have all one thing in common – They need to be inspired and empowered."

“I should just like to register how interesting I found the session today. Zara spoke very engagingly; her answers to the questions from the floor were impressively fluent and clearly based upon her experience. I am sure that some of her answers, e.g. how to identify a suitable mentor, will be of practical use to many of the audience members.”

Thank you for this information, and for holding these talks; truly inspiring! Being in the midst of a career re-evaluation myself, it was a breath of fresh air to hear another person’s story; Zara was brilliant!”

“I enjoyed the eschewing of a Powerpoint presentation so that it was a little more informal (and humorous!) than a standard talk, so I think that would be good advice for any future speakers too.”

All staff are welcome to attend. If you have any queries or suggestions for upcoming events please email Anne Wilson on A dot E dot Wilson at warwick dot ac dot uk
