Student IT enhancements

IT Services are working to provide more student computer areas, faster logins and growing wireless coverage in student residences.

'Social' computing

After a successful trial in Cafe Westwood, IT Services will introduce more computers into popular social areas including Café Humanities and Café Social Studies this April. We will then expand this to get computers out to more locations where students regularly meet and where they need quick access to IT - the Physical Sciences Concourse for example.

If you have any suggestions for other areas where you think a small cluster of computers would be useful for students, please let us know (contact details available below).

Saving time

The time taken to login to student work area computers has been considerably improved, reducing the average login time to less than 60 seconds.

Getting connected

The student residence WiFi project is 70% complete with the remainder underway. We expect to complete it by April 2013.
