I recently visited Australia and Indonesia, both countries which—in their different ways—are pivotal for global higher education. As I returned to Britain, I was left with one question which applies to both systems in different ways. How will we handle regulation of educational-quality standards in a world in which higher education is increasingly multinational?

I recently visited the CERN research facility in Geneva, where a number of faculty members from Warwick work. There, four great experiments spaced around the almost 17-mile ring of the Large Hadron Collider are being put to work on questions like what happened after the Big Bang.
