The Big Easy '03

As the end of term quickly approaches, the University of Warwick will soon be taken over (Monday 23rd June) by festival fever as the Students' Union RAG society lay on The Big Easy ’03, an appeal event in aid of the Birmingham-based Acorns Children’s Hospice Trust.

The music and sport festival, billed to resemble a scaled-model of "Glastonbury meets the Olympics", will all kick-off in and around the Cryfield Sports Pavilion at 12pm. Headlining some of the University’s finest musical talent, not to mention a host of its sporting stars, on the adjoining sports pitches, the event promises to provide Warwick students the much needed post-exam chill-out. Broadcast live on the student radio station RaW and being filmed by the recently-formed WTV (Warwick TV), RAG hope greatly to build on the successes of last year’s summer festival.

For students hoping to conquer fears of heights, or likewise those who relish the prospect of jumping off a crane suspended 200ft above Coventry, in conjunction with the Big Easy on the same day, RAG are offering FREE, sponsored bungee jumps to be taking place all in aid of the charity from the local Varsity.

For Warwick RAG, who have been active all year around, the event marks the climax to a hugely successful year where the society, organised wholly by the student body managed raised close to £40, 000 for a range of worthy charitable causes. The date is set (Monday 23rd June), the venue is arranged (Cryfield Sports Pavilion) and the time is set in stone (12-7pm) – with bungee jumps taking place from 12pm-2pm. The message from Warwick RAG is simple, it’s going to be BIG, it’s going to be EASY, without doubt it will be the BIG EASY!
