English Conference - Charlotte Smith and British Romanticism

Before Wordsworth, there was Charlotte Smith.  This conference marks the bicentenary of her death, gathering together scholars from around the world to evaluate Smith's place in the canon of Romanticism.  The conference will also see the first performance of Smith’s play What is She? since 1799, sponsored by the CAPITAL Centre and the RSC.

Plenary speakers for the event are Professor Stuart Curran, University of Pennsylvania, and Dr. Judith Stanton.

The conference will take place on Saturday 28 and Sunday 29 October, between 10am and 4pm in Arden House.

The cost for the two day event is £195 (£165 concessions).

Contact Professor Jacqueline Labbe for more information.
