Real Ale Festival

The annual Real Ale Festival returns from 27 - 29 February for a three day celebration of traditional ales and ciders. With 104 different ales available, you are bound to find a favourite!

The event is organised by the Real Ale Student Society and is now in its 29th year. It is the largest student real ale festival in the country and will showcase a selection of 104 beers, some from the local area. Since 1973, the society has been committed to the promotion and consumption of real ale and real cider.

Eddie Warren, president of the Real Ale Society said: “The festival has only grown to be such a large event in the Student Unions calendar through the commitment of society members to quality beer and volunteering their time for free”

Among the huge range of ales that will be available are St Peter’s organic grapefruit beer, Jaipur traditional India Pale Ale and full bodied porter, Exmoor Beast as well as a range of ever popular ciders, fruit wines and traditional mead.

The entertainment runs from 6pm until midnight each night and will be held in the Students’ Union.

The festival is open to the public and entry is £2.50 for all non Real Ale Society members.
