Chinese TV Director Zhang Ji Zhong makes UK Debut at the University of Warwick

TV director and producer Zhang Ji Zhong will address fans during a presentation at Warwick Arts Centre for his first ever visit to the UK.

The University of Warwick is home to over 1000 students from China and Hong Kong, and so is a perfect venue for Ji Zhong to make his UK debut.

Ji Zhong is well known for producing traditional epic Chinese TV dramas, and is planning to reproduce the cult ‘Monkey King’ TV series. He is set to give his presentation on June 18th in Warwick Arts Centre, from 14.30 – 16.30, where he will showcase his work and explore how we use television as a medium for discussing culture.

Danni Ning, Warwick’s International Liaison Officer for East Asia says: “This is very exciting. Many of the Chinese students will have grown up watching his TV series. I certainly used to watch a lot of his work.”

“We’re very lucky because this is his first time in the UK, and he’s only visiting two UK universities before moving on to New York. He’s hoping to create an international reputation. He wants to exchange ideas with academics in a Western Country, and promote Chinese culture.”

Admission for this event is free, however there are limited spaces and tickets are available on a ‘first come, first serve’ basis from the International Office reception.
