Warwick - the Magazine launched

Originally Published 04 November 2002

On Tuesday 29 October, the Communications Office took the unusual step of formally launching a University publication with an event in London. Held in The Tram Studios, Camden, the launch of Warwick - the Magazine was sponsored by its printers, W and G Baird, and designers, Westwood Marketing and Design. The Vice-Chancellor hosted the event and guests included London-based alumni, colleagues from the London colleges and media, Warwick staff and students. Excellent music was provided by a student jazz group and some of the University's research was showcased, including presentations by Biological Sciences, Chemistry and the THEATRON project, all of which greatly added to the evening's interest.

Warwick - the Magazine is an innovative university publication that combines feature articles and opinion pieces by Warwick academics with university and alumni news. It has a wide circulation - almost 100,000 - among alumni and opinion formers at home and abroad. Response to the first issue has been very positive, with readers comparing the feature articles to those that appear in magazines like The Economist. The Magazine appears twice yearly with the next issue due in March. We welcome suggestions for feature articles and news items so please email the editor, Roberta Warman, at R.M.Warman@warwick.ac.uk
