Can you convey the magic of science in plain English in just 700 words? If so the Daily Telegraph is inviting you to test your journalistic abilities in the Science Writer Awards 2003.

Now in their sixteenth year the awards give young scientists the opportunity to write an article on any scientific or science related subject. The winning articles will be published in the Daily Telegraph. The author will also win a trip to the USA and a share in a cash prize.

You do not need to be an experienced author. The judges are looking for the ability to write enthusiastically and communicate this enthusiasm to the reading public.

The closing date for entries is Friday 25 April 2003. Entry is open for two age groups: 16-19 and 20-28 years.
