Over 60 sixth-formers from local schools came to the University on Thursday 20 March for a day of seminars on teaching as a career.

The day, organised by the Warwickshire Local Education Authority (LEA) and hosted by Institute of Education, saw students attending a series of workshops led by teachers, education social workers and University officers.

Sinead Hurst, from Warwickshire LEA, explained that "Head teachers from a range of local schools requested this event which we hope will help our long-term recruitment strategy and prevent teacher shortages around Coventry and Warwickshire in the future."

Bernadette Culkin, from the Institute of Education, stressed "We have an excellent reputation, and the Institute is one of the largest centres for educational studies and research in the UK."
