Warwick Medical School's Inaugural Lectures continue

Professor Nigel Stallard, Warwick Medical SchoolWarwick Medical School's Inaugural Lecture Series continues on the 20th January with a talk on clinical trials from the Professor of Medical Statistics and acting director of the Health Sciences Research Institute, Nigel Stallard.

In his lecture on at the Medical Teaching Centre Lecture Theatre, Professor Stallard will describe some of the challenges that have led him to be involved in the development of new statistical methodology and collaborations with experimental scientists and researchers.

After graduating from Cambridge in 1987 with a degree in mathematics, Professor Stallard worked as a mathematical modeller in the Royal Air Force. He then studied part time for an MSc in the Department of Applied Statistics at the University of Reading before joining as a research fellow in 1992.

He was a founding member of the Medical and Pharmaceutical Statistics Research Unit at Reading until joining Warwick in September 2005 and his research interests are focused on statistical design of experiments involving modifications based on the analysis of the data as they accumulate.

Launched in September 2006, the monthly lectures give each professor at the Medical School the chance to highlight their field of interest, allowing members of the public, university colleagues and associates to learn more about the work undertaken in the Medical School.

Forthcoming lecturers include Professor of Reproductive Biology Justin St John and Professor of Medical Education Neil Johnson.

The one hour lecture in the Medical Teaching Centre Lecture Theatre starts at 6pm followed by a drinks reception. If you would like to attend, please contact the Inaugural Lectures Coordinator
