Youth China Now

As part of the China Now festival of Chinese culture taking place across the UK in 2008, Warwick will hold a two day festival on the 7th and 8th May, with a number of diverse events across campus. The event is sponsored by Norton Rose LLP.

Day One - Wednesday 7 May

The first day of the event will be a carnival-style cultural festival.

The day will kick off at 10am with a parade featuring lion dancing and dragon dancing. Then, there will be the opportunity to enjoy Chinese culture from different angles on central campus; with a food tasting session in the Chaplaincy between 11am and 12pm, and performances in the Piazza and a variety of demonstrations, workshops and games in the Marketplace for the rest of the day.

The whole event will be free of charge, and there will be opportunities to purchase exotic Chinese souvenirs and win prizes worth over £150.

Day 2 - Thursday 8 May

On the second day of Youth China Now a forum will be held from 2pm - 4.30pm at Warwick Business School Teaching Centre, with the theme “China in Transition”.

The forum aims to encourage awareness and understanding of both historic and contemporary China from diverse perspectives such as Chinese law, politics, economics and culture. This event offers a unique opportunity to approach Chinese current affairs. The event is free of charge and refreshments will be provided.

The Youth China Now event is one of a number of events taking place as part of the Warwick China Now celebrations. The committee look forward to welcoming everyone to the largest festival of Chinese culture ever put on at Warwick.
