It’s that time of year again when students prepare for a new term at University but at Warwick there are a few surprises in store this Autumn. A new Chief Executive has been appointed at Warwick Students’ Union who will drive the Union along the most exciting and challenging path in its 30 year history, a path that will wind its way through the community, the region and beyond.
Jacqui Clements, CEO at Warwick SU in partnership with the new team of Sabbatical officers will oversee and deliver not only a stunning £11 million rebuild of the old SU building, but also a dramatic new rebrand that will raise the profile of Warwick SU, change perceptions, attract students, the local community and businesses to one of the most desirable and accessible venues in the area.
The project, split into two phases will see a 2000 capacity live gig venue open in the Spring of 2009 attracting some of the biggest names in live music to the area. In addition there will be conference and product launch facilities for the business community, restaurants, bars a media centre and even a traditional English pub all open to the public.
Jacqui said, “I am thrilled to be delivering to the students of Warwick and the people of this area a facility that will put Coventry as an area and Warwick as a Univeristy on the map for all the right reasons. Students’ Unions are often perceived as exclusive to students, dark bars, loud music, and the public stay away. With this amazing opportunity we will create a destination centre in the heart of the campus that will be accessible to everyone within the region. It will also become one of the best student focussed membership organisations in the UK.
Warwick SU is also seeking Trustees to be a part of the future of the Union. If you have experience in the charity sector, business finance, or feel you have senior management/director level skills that would be relevant and you would like to be a part of this historic transformation, please contact Andy Glyde on 024 765 72780 or email email@example.com.
